In AS 2560.2:2021, issued new requirements for cricket pitch lighting has been issued. From this standard, we can see that AS 2560.2:2021 mainly defines the lighting standard requirements for five types of cricket pitches and two areas.
The first type is the non-body contact training cricket pitch. In this kind of cricket ground, the average illuminance requirement of the square is 100lux. U1 needs to reach 0.5, while U2 only needs to meet 0.3. The lighting requirements of the outfield and square are the same, average illuminance of 100lux, U1 needs to reach 0.5, while U2 only needs to reach 0.3.
The second type is match practice. In this kind of cricket pitch, the average illuminance requirement of the square is 200lux, 0.6 for U1 and 0.4 for U2. Similarly, the lighting requirements of the outfield are the same as those of the square, with an average illuminance of 200lux, 0.6 for U1, and 0.4 for U2.
The third type is Level III. In this kind of cricket pitch, the average illuminance requirement of the square is 300 lux, and both U1 and U2 are 0.5. The lighting requirements of the outfield are slightly lower, 200lux, but U1 and U2 are also 0.5.
The fourth type is Level II. In this kind of cricket pitch, the illuminance requirement is suddenly much higher. The average illuminance requirement of square needs to meet the requirement of 500lux, U1 is 0.7 and U2 is 0.7. The average illuminance requirement of the outfield is 300lux, U1 and U2 are 0.7 and 0.5 respectively.
The fifth type is Level I. This is the highest standard of the cricket pitch, so this kind of cricket pitch is also the most demanding in lighting standards. The average illuminance of the square is 700luxl, U1 0.7, and U2 0.5. The average illuminance of the outfield is 500lux, and U1 and U2 are 0.7 and 0.5 respectively.
